On this project we were engaged by Contract Construction to carry out the soft landscaping at Aldersgate Church in the City Centre. This was a sentimental project to the local Christchurch community as the project was developed following the Durham Street Methodist Church that collapsed in the Earthquake of 2011.
The design of this landscaping was completed by Tracey Ower Landscape Architects Ltd and the work involved our Earthworks, Soft Landscaping and Irrigation teams. It incorporated a large variety of trees, shrubs and climber plants – making for a statement landscape in the CBD!
The project started with earthworks that included: tree pits, excavation and backfilling with topsoil. Next our soft landscapers came in and completed an awesome job in the testing conditions of Christchurch winter!
Duane our irrigation technician constructed the water feature based off Tracey’s design and adapted it to compliment the surroundings.
As you can see from the photos, this landscape encompassed a variety of landscaping technique and the clients were thrilled with the result. Evergreen Landscapes are happy they could be part of this rebuild development which is an iconic building in Christchurch CBD! This is one of many landscape projects that Evergreen has completed in the CBD post-quake and one that is very special to us and our Christchurch community.
The key elements for the landscape project were:
- Tree pits
- Feature lawn
- Climbing wires
- Tidy up of existing gardens
- Automatic Irrigation system
- Water feature
